Gaugepoint

About this tool

One reference, shown clearly.

Gaugepoint is a free browser-local tool for one narrow task: inspect a nominal bare-round AWG diameter and its derived geometric cross-section. It names the source edition and keeps the starting table value separate from the exact arithmetic performed afterward. That distinction helps when two references show slightly different decimals because one uses a rounded table and another uses an ideal progression.

What the result represents

The supported choices are the 44 canonical gauges from 4/0 through 40. The data comes from NBS Handbook 100, issued in 1966, table 1. This is an archival reference, not a claim that the edition is the current rule for a product, country or application. The table is used for nominal geometry only. No physical component is measured by your browser.

Unit conversions and the circular-mil square use integer decimal arithmetic. Area in mm² uses π and is visibly approximate. The guide explains the formulas and the examples make the source precision concrete. The schematic is a reading aid, not a scaled drawing, gauge plate or fit template.

Local by design

The lookup runs in the page on your device. It has no upload service, sign-in, material selector or electrical recommendation engine. This source release loads no external analytics, advertising or consent platform. Hosting still involves ordinary requests to deliver the website; the privacy page describes that distinction. The prepared advertising publisher metadata does not mean adverts are approved or earning income.

Corrections and contact

Report a suspected table or calculation issue through the contact page. Include the canonical gauge, units, expected result and relevant reference page. Avoid sending personal or confidential project details. Gaugepoint uses the existing shared public forwarding address yardfill.helpful594@aleeas.com; it is not a dedicated new mailbox. Useful corrections can improve a future release without changing what the current export says about its source.
